most は「ほとんどの」、several は「いくつかの」、plenty of は「たっぷりの」、a number of は「かなりの数の」。
some、any、much、many most、several、plenty of、a number of です。
“almost people” ではなく most people、または almost all people と言います。
the、this/these、my/your などの前、または us や them などの代名詞の前です:「私のクラスの生徒のほとんど」→ most of the students in my class。
“most of people” や “the most people” は間違いです。the most は「いちばん多く」という最上級で、“Who has the most money?”(いちばんお金を持っているのは誰?) なお “most of the time”(たいてい)は決まった言い方です。
“Most people prefer tea to coffee.”
“Most of the students in my class speak two languages.” —
(several of は特定のグループの前だけです:several of my friends「私の友だちの何人か」。)
“I've invited several friends to the party.” —
“She has read several books on the subject.” —
plenty of time であって、“plenty time” ではありません。
I have a lot of work が自然です。
“There's plenty of time before the movie starts.”
“We have plenty of chairs for everyone.”
people are、a number of people are と言います。
“A number of employees have complained about the new policy.”
“The number of employees is increasing every year.”
almost は副詞なので、most people か almost all people と言います。
most of を使うのは the、my、these、us、them などの前だけです。
the、this/these、my や us、them の前では、most の後に of が必要です。
「ほとんどの人」は “Most people prefer tea to coffee.” almost を使いたいなら “almost all people” です。また一般的な話では “most of people” や “the most people” にもしません。
英語では、the、this/these、my/your、us/them の前では most of にします:“Most of the students in my class…”、“most of us”。
英語では several や a number of の後の名詞は複数形にし、a number of の後の動詞も複数の形にします:“A number of employees have complained.” 一方、the number of は「〜の数」という1つの数値なので単数です:“The number of employees is increasing.”
単に「たくさん」と言うなら a lot of や lots of が自然です。
💡 「ほとんどの人」(一般的な話)= most people。almost も the も of もつけません。
💡 後ろに the、this/these、my や us/them が来たら most of です。
💡 a number of(何人もの)→ 動詞は複数。the number of(〜の数)→ 動詞は単数。

"Most of my friends said yes, so probably around twenty."
"Okay, I already bought plenty of drinks, so we should be fine there."
