Laiko ir vietos žodžių pokyčiai

B1 · VidutinisNetiesioginė kalba

Pirmadienį jis sakė: „I'll call you tomorrow.“ Trečiadienį perpasakoji: „He said he would call me the next day.“

  • Laiko žodžiai: today→that day, tomorrow→the next day, yesterday→the day before, now→then
  • Vietos žodžiai ir parodomieji įvardžiai: here→there, this→that, these→those – kaip lietuviškai „čia“ → „ten“, „šis“ → „tas“

"Monday: "I'll call you tomorrow," he said."
"Reported on Wednesday: He said he would call me the next day."

Laiko žodžių pokyčiai

Laiko žodžiai keičiasi taip: today → that day; tomorrow → the next day / the following day; yesterday → the day before / the previous day; now → then; next week → the following week; last week → the week before / the previous week; ago → before.

Lietuviški atitikmenys beveik tikslūs: „kitą dieną“ = the next day, „dieną prieš tai“ = the day before, „kitą savaitę“ (po to) = the following week, „tada“ = then. Tačiau saugokis trejų spąstų. Pirma, „prieš dvi dienas“ angliškai yra two days ago, o ne „before two days“; perpasakojant ago virsta before, kuris eina PO laiko išraiškos: „two days before“. Antra, „kitą dieną“ nėra „the other day“ – šis posakis reiškia „neseniai, prieš kelias dienas“. Trečia, „praėjusią savaitę“ nėra „the last week“ (tai reiškia „pastarąsias septynias dienas“); perpasakojant sakyk the week before.

""I saw her two days ago." → He said he had seen her two days before."

Vietos žodžiai ir parodomieji įvardžiai

here → there; this → that; these → those, nes tu jau nesi toje pačioje vietoje ir nerodai to paties daikto kaip kalbėjęs žmogus.

She said she liked that room“.

""I like this room," she said (in that room). → She said she liked that room."

"Spoken and reported the same day: "I'm busy today," she said. → She said she was busy today."

Anglų kalba kasdienybėje

"He said he would see me the following month."
"She said she had moved there the year before."
"He said those were his keys."
"She said she would call the next day."

Atkreipk dėmesį

✗He said he would call me tomorrow. (reported a week later)
✓He said he would call me the next day.

Jei jau praėjo laiko, tomorrow rodo ne tą dieną. Sakyk the next day („kitą dieną“).

✗He said he would call me the other day.
✓He said he would call me the next day.

„Kitą dieną“ nėra the other day – šis posakis reiškia „neseniai“. Perpasakojant reikia the next day.

✗She said she liked this room. (reported somewhere else)
✓She said she liked that room.

This ir here rodo pradinę vietą. Jei pasakoji iš kitos vietos, vartok that ir there – kaip lietuviškai „tas“ ir „ten“.

✗She said she had arrived the last week.
✓She said she had arrived the week before.

„The last week“ reiškia „pastarosios septynios dienos“. Netiesioginėje kalboje „praėjusi savaitė“ tampa the week before.

✗He said he had seen her two days ago.
✓He said he had seen her two days before.

Ago skaičiuoja nuo dabar. Netiesioginėje kalboje vartok before („dviem dienomis anksčiau“), kuris skaičiuoja nuo kalbėjimo momento.

✗He said he had seen her before two days.
✓He said he had seen her two days before.

Pažodžiui išverstas „prieš dvi dienas“. Angliškai before (kaip ir ago) eina po laiko išraiškos: two days before.

Palyginimas su tavo kalba

Lietuviškai irgi keičiame laiką ir vietą, kai pasakojame vėliau: „rytoj“ → „kitą dieną“, „vakar“ → „dieną prieš tai“, „čia“ → „ten“

Pačios idėjos mokytis nereikia – tik angliškų žodžių: the next day, the day before, there. Problemos atsiranda verčiant pažodžiui: „before two days“ vietoj „two days before“ arba „the other day“ vietoj „the next day“.

„Prieš dvi dienas“: lietuviškai „prieš“ eina prieš laiko išraišką

Angliškai tiesioginėje kalboje sakome two days ago, o perpasakojant – two days before. Abu žodžiai eina PO laiko išraiškos. Ago skaičiuoja nuo dabar, before – nuo to momento, kai žmogus kalbėjo: „He said he had seen her two days before.“

„Kitą dieną“ perpasakojant reiškia „dieną po to“

Angliškai tai the next day arba the following day. „The other day“ reiškia visai ką kita – „neseniai, prieš kelias dienas“: „I saw Tom the other day.“ Todėl „He said he would call me the other day“ yra klaida.

„Praėjusią savaitę“, „pernai“: lietuviškai tai skaičiuojama nuo dabar

Angliškai last week ir last year irgi skaičiuojami nuo šiandien ir vartojami be artikelio. „The last week“ reiškia „pastarosios septynios dienos“. Kai perpasakoji vėliau, sakyk the week before / the previous week ir the year before: „She said she had arrived the week before.“

💡 „Kitą dieną“ = the next day, ne the other day. „Dviem dienomis anksčiau“ = two days before, ne before two days.

💡 „Tas“ ir „tie“ yra that ir those; „ten“ yra there.

💡 Ta pati diena ir ta pati vieta? Tada žodis dažnai nesikeičia.

Situacija iš gyvenimo: perduodame seną žinutę

"Did Mia ever call back?"

"Yeah, last week. She said she'd be here the next day, but something came up."

"Did she say when she'd come instead?"

"She just said she'd let us know later that week."
