Future perfect continuous (will have been + -ing)

  • A forma: will have been + verbo com -ing (I will have been working, she will have been studying)
  • Como dizer “Em junho vai fazer cinco anos que eu trabalho aqui”: by June + for five years

A duração quase sempre vem com for: for five years, for six hours.

Traduzido palavra por palavra, sai “it will make five years that I work here” ou “I will have five years working here”: está errado. Em inglês, a pessoa é o sujeito e o verbo vai na forma completa: “By June, I will have been working here for five years.”

"By June, I will have been working here for five years."
"By 10pm, she will have been studying for six hours."

A forma: will have been + verbo com -ing

A forma tem três peças fixas: will + have been + verbo com -ing. Nenhuma pode faltar: will have working ou will been working estão errados. Have continua have com todas as pessoas, inclusive he, she e it: she will have been, nunca she will has been. E depois de been vem a forma com -ing, não a forma base: will have been dating, e não will have been date.

Negativa: won't (will not) have been + -ing. Pergunta: will vai para antes do sujeito. “They won't have been living here long by then.” “Will you have been waiting long by the time I arrive?” Depois de by the time, o inglês usa o presente simples: by the time I arrive, nunca by the time I will arrive.

"They won't have been living here long by then."
"Will you have been waiting long by the time I arrive?"

“Em junho vai fazer dez anos que eu a conheço” → “By June, I will have known her for ten years”, e não “will have been knowing”.

"By the time he retires, he will have been teaching for 30 years. (duração)"
"By the time he retires, he will have finished the project. (ação concluída)"

Perguntando a duração

A palavra interrogativa típica é how long: ela pergunta quanto tempo uma ação terá durado num momento do futuro. → “How long will you have been living here by December?” Não use “since when”, que pergunta a data de início.

Também há as perguntas de sim ou não: will vai para antes do sujeito, e have been + -ing vem logo depois, sem se separar. “Will they have been traveling for 24 hours by then?” (Traveling é a grafia americana; no inglês britânico, escreve-se travelling.)

"How long will you have been living here by December?"
"Will they have been traveling for 24 hours by then?"

Inglês de verdade

"By next year, she will have been running the company for a decade."
"By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours."
"By the end of the month, he will have been living abroad for a year."
"By next month, we will have been dating for a year."

Atenção

✗In June, it will make five years that I work here.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

O sujeito é a pessoa, e a duração vem com for.

✗In June, I will work here since five years.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

Com uma duração, é for, não since; e a duração até um momento do futuro pede will have been + -ing.

✗By June, I will have working here for five years.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

Não esqueça o been: will have been + -ing, três peças.

✗By next month, we will have been date for a year.
✓By next month, we will have been dating for a year.

Depois de will have been vem a forma com -ing, não a forma base do verbo.

✗By the time you arrive, we will be waiting for two hours.
✓By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours.

Para dizer quanto tempo a espera terá durado, use will have been + -ing. Will be waiting só diz que você estará esperando naquele momento.

✗By June, I will have been knowing her for ten years.
✓By June, I will have known her for ten years.

Verbos de estado como know, own e belong não levam -ing: aqui se usa o future perfect (will have + particípio).

“It will make five years that I work here” está errado. By June, I will have been working here for five years.” By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours.”

Em inglês, ninguém “tem” anos de trabalho nesse sentido: “I will have five years working here” está errado. E cuidado com since: since vem com um ponto de partida (since 2021, since Monday); com uma duração, use for (for five years). “Since five years” está sempre errado.

“Até junho”, “até lá”, “quando você chegar”

O momento do futuro em que você faz a conta se diz com by: by June, by then, by the time you arrive (com o presente simples, sem will). I'll be here until June”). Por isso “Until June, I will have been working here for five years” está errado.

💡 “Em junho vai fazer cinco anos que…” = By June, … will have been + -ing … for five years.

💡 Duração = for (for five years); ponto de partida = since (since 2021).

💡 “Até junho” (o momento da conta) = by June; until é para algo que dura; depois de by the time, presente simples.

💡 Will have been + -ing: três peças, nenhuma falta — exceto com verbos de estado como know (will have known).

Na vida real: aniversário de namoro

"How long have you two been together now?"

"By next month, we will have been dating for a year!"

"That's a big milestone. Any plans?"

"We're thinking of a trip to celebrate."
