Future perfect continuous (will have been + -ing)

C1 · PokročilýVyjádření budoucnosti

Ve future perfect continuous se postavíte do bodu v budoucnosti a díváte se zpátky: jak dlouho už v tu chvíli bude něco trvat?

Co se naučíte

  • Stavba ze tří částí: will have been + sloveso s -ing (I will have been working, she will have been studying)
  • Jak říct „V červnu to bude pět let, co tu pracuju“: by June + for five years
  • By (ne until) pro „do června“, „do té doby“, „až přijedete“
  • Rozdíl oproti future perfect: trvání, nebo dokončení – a proč stavová slovesa nemají -ing

Jak dlouho – až do okamžiku v budoucnosti

Future perfect continuous říká, jak dlouho bude děj trvat v určitém okamžiku budoucnosti. Důležitá je délka trvání, ne to, jestli děj skončil. Délku trvání skoro vždy uvádí for: for five years, for six hours.

Čeština takový čas nemá. Řekneme „V červnu to bude pět let, co tu pracuju“ nebo „V červnu tu budu pracovat už pět let“. Slovo od slova z toho vznikne „it will be five years since I work here“ nebo „I will work here since five years“ – obě věty jsou chybně („since I work“ i „since five years“). Správně je „In June, it will be five years since I started working here“, nebo – a to je téma této lekce – s osobou jako podmětem: „By June, I will have been working here for five years.“

"By June, I will have been working here for five years."
"By 10pm, she will have been studying for six hours."

Stavba: will have been + sloveso s -ing

Tento tvar má tři pevné části: will + have been + sloveso s -ing. Žádnou nelze vynechat: „will have working“ i „will been working“ jsou chyby. Have zůstává have u všech osob, i u he, she, it: she will have been, nikdy she will has been. Po been stojí tvar s -ing, ne základní tvar: will have been dating, ne will have been date.

Zápor: won't (will not) have been + -ing. Otázka: will před podmět. „They won't have been living here long by then.“ „Will you have been waiting long by the time I arrive?“ Pozor: po „až“ mluvíme česky v budoucím čase („až přijedu“), ale po by the time používá angličtina present simple: by the time I arrive, nikdy by the time I will arrive.

"They won't have been living here long by then."
"Will you have been waiting long by the time I arrive?"

Future perfect continuous, nebo future perfect?

Future perfect (will have + příčestí minulé) zdůrazňuje, že něco bude v daném okamžiku hotové – česky obvykle dokonavý vid: „do té doby dokončí projekt“. Future perfect continuous (will have been + -ing) zdůrazňuje, jak dlouho děj trvá; neříká, jestli bude pokračovat i potom.

U sloves jako teach, work nebo live s délkou trvání s for se často hodí oba tvary; průběhový tvar klade důraz na samotnou činnost. Stavová slovesa jako know, own, be nebo belong ale -ing nepřijímají. „V červnu to bude deset let, co ji znám“ → „By June, I will have known her for ten years“, ne „will have been knowing“.

"By the time he retires, he will have been teaching for 30 years. (duration)"
"By the time he retires, he will have finished the project. (completion)"

Otázka na délku trvání

Typické tázací slovo je how long: ptá se, jak dlouho bude děj trvat v daném okamžiku budoucnosti. „Jak dlouho tu v prosinci už budete bydlet?“ → „How long will you have been living here by December?“ Nepoužívejte „since when“, které se ptá na datum začátku.

V otázkách ano/ne jde will před podmět a have been + -ing stojí hned za ním, pohromadě. „Will they have been traveling for 24 hours by then?“ (Traveling je americký pravopis; britsky travelling.)

"How long will you have been living here by December?"
"Will they have been traveling for 24 hours by then?"

Angličtina v praxi

"By next year, she will have been running the company for a decade."
"By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours."
"By the end of the month, he will have been living abroad for a year."
"By next month, we will have been dating for a year."

Pozor

✗In June, it will be five years since I work here.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

Doslovný překlad „v červnu to bude pět let, co tu pracuju“. Přítomný čas po since tu nefunguje (šlo by jen „since I started working here“). Nejpřirozeněji je podmětem osoba, sloveso je ve tvaru will have been + -ing a délku trvání uvádí for.

✗In June, I will work here since five years.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

„Už pět let“ je for five years, ne since. A trvání až do okamžiku v budoucnosti vyžaduje will have been + -ing.

✗By June, I will have working here for five years.
✓By June, I will have been working here for five years.

Nevynechávejte been: will have been + -ing jsou tři části.

✗By next month, we will have been date for a year.
✓By next month, we will have been dating for a year.

Po will have been stojí tvar s -ing, ne základní tvar.

✗By the time you arrive, we will be waiting for two hours.
✓By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours.

Doslovné „budeme čekat dvě hodiny“. Chcete-li říct, jak dlouho už čekání bude trvat, použijte will have been + -ing. Will be waiting říká jen, že v tu chvíli budete uprostřed čekání.

✗By June, I will have been knowing her for ten years.
✓By June, I will have known her for ten years.

Stavová slovesa jako know, own nebo belong nepřijímají -ing: tady použijete future perfect (will have + příčestí minulé).

Srovnání s češtinou

„V červnu to bude pět let, co tu pracuju“: podmětem je „to“ a sloveso ve vedlejší větě je v přítomném čase

Doslovné „It will be five years since I work here“ je chyba – přítomný čas po since tu nefunguje; vazba s it je správně jen s minulým časem: „It will be five years since I started working here.“ Nejpřirozeněji je ale podmětem osoba, sloveso je ve future perfect continuous a délku trvání uvádí for: „By June, I will have been working here for five years.“ Stejně „Až přijedete, budeme čekat už dvě hodiny“ → „By the time you arrive, we will have been waiting for two hours.“

„Už pět let“ a „od roku 2021“: česky obojí vyjadřuje, jak dlouho něco trvá

Anglicky jsou to dvě různá slova. Since se pojí s okamžikem začátku (since 2021, since Monday), délku trvání uvádí for (for five years). „Since five years“ je vždy chyba. A český budoucí čas s „už“ („budu tu pracovat už pět let“) nepřejde v obyčejné will: potřebujete will have been + -ing.

„Do června“, „do té doby“, „až přijedete“

Okamžik v budoucnosti, ke kterému počítáte čas, vyjádříte pomocí by: by June, by then, by the time you arrive (s present simple, bez will). Until je také „do“, ale pro děj, který trvá až do toho okamžiku a pak skončí („I'll be here until June“). Proto „Until June, I will have been working here for five years“ je chyba.

💡 „V červnu to bude pět let, co…“ = By June, … will have been + -ing … for five years.

💡 Délka trvání = for (for five years); okamžik začátku = since (since 2021).

💡 „Do června“ (okamžik, ke kterému počítáte) = by June; until znamená trvání; po by the time – present simple.

💡 Will have been + -ing: tři části, žádnou nevynechávejte. Stavová slovesa jako know patří do future perfect: will have known.

Ze života: výročí vztahu

"How long have you two been together now?"

"By next month, we will have been dating for a year!"

"That's a big milestone. Any plans?"

"We're thinking of a trip to celebrate."
